What is it about Braden.

It is hard to pin down and that is precisely the point.

Braden does not have a single defining quality that you can point to and say — that, that is the thing. He is not the most exuberant or the most serene or the most dramatically intelligent or the most overtly affectionate. He is something more interesting than any one of those things. He is balanced — genuinely, naturally, almost implausibly balanced — in a way that makes every interaction with him feel easy and every moment in his company feel uncomplicated and right.

The Poodle in Braden shows up as a quiet, pervasive intelligence that colours everything he does without dominating any of it. He is sharp without being intense. Quick without being restless. He absorbs information about the world around him with the unhurried thoroughness of someone who has all the time in the world and intends to use it properly — and the picture he builds from that information is always more detailed and more accurate than you expected.

He trains with a willingness and an intelligence that make sessions productive without ever feeling like work. And somewhere in the middle of an ordinary afternoon Braden will find the best spot in the house — the one with the right light and the right temperature and the right proximity to wherever you happen to be — and he will settle into it with a long slow exhale that seems to say — yes. This. Exactly this.
